A local all-girls hockey team is looking to the community for help.
The U-11 SEFHA Fury are regional finalists for the Chevrolet Good Deeds Cup.
In a regular year, teams would film themselves committing a good deed, however, due to the pandemic teams had to pitch a $100,000 good deed that would benefit the community.
The girls were intent on choosing a deed that would help less fortunate youth in their community. That’s how they ended up choosing Crossroads for Women.
“A female team helping women and children resonated with them, “said team manager Jennifer Tower.
The process of putting together an idea and working to reach this point has helped the Fury grow in an unusual year.
“They couldn’t get on the ice and didn’t have anything as a team. This gave them something to work for,” says Tower.
Being selected as regional finalists secured $2,000 for a charity of choice but having made it this far the team is looking to secure the top prize and have their names engraved on the Chevrolet Good Deeds Cup.
Finalists will be chosen based on who receives the most votes. Anyone looking to help support the Fury can do so on the Chevrolet Good Deeds Website.
