Air Canada is restoring a fifth flight from Kamloops to Vancouver in October this year.
The service was scaled back to four flights a day in February when Air Canada introduced the Bombardier Q-400 aircraft with more seats.
Airport Managing Director Ed Ratuski is pleased with the restoration of service, and he’s hoping people use the flight so that it’s kept year round.
“It’s just a sign of their continued growth in that market,” he said. “I know the business community particularly was looking for additional frequencies and I think they’ll be pleased to see that come back as well.”
This flight is expected to land into Kamloops around 2:20 p.m., and leaving just before 3 p.m.
“They didn’t give us a specific reason but largely it would be due to demand. If they are seeing the demand and the route is performing really well, and at capacity, that’s when they’ll look for opportunities to add additional flights.”
Over the fall months, Ratuski says the Vancouver flights are expected to leave Kamloops at 6:25 a.m., 8:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m., 2:50 p.m., and 5:4o p.m. Arrivals into Kamloops will be 8:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m., 2:20 p.m., 5:10 p.m., and 10:20 p.m.
As of this moment, the fifth daily flight is scheduled to run until the end of March.
