People going to Royal Inland Hospital and other health facilities across the province will no longer have to pay for parking during this pandemic.
Health Minister Adrian Dix says that measure will come into effect on Wednesdayy.
“In an effort to reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission, we are suspending paid parking for the patients, staff, and visitors at all health authority owned-and-operated sites until further notice,” he says.
“This change makes it easier for individuals to avoid touching screens and buttons at payment kiosks that may have been touched by someone previously, and it supports physical distancing measures that have been mandated by our Provincial Health Officer.”
Dix also says hospital staff who pay for parking with a dedication from their paycheque won’t have that amount taken off either, after April 1.
