The vehicle of a Vavenby man missing for six years has been found.
Vern Boettger went missing in October of 2013 when he was 78 years old, and North District RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Madonna Saunderson says his truck was found on Sept. 5, in dense brush near Graffunder Lakes.
“Where it was found was heavily overgrown, quite rugged, and a little bit treacherous. The family, search and rescue and RCMP did then conduct further searching within a four-to-six-kilometre radius of where the vehicle was found. However they have found nothing to indicate what may have happened to Mr. Boettger, or any remains or any evidence to show where he may have gone or what may have happened.”
Saunderson says it’s not known how long Boettger’s truck was there.
“Nothing that I’ve been told about, other than the terrain had become extensively overgrown from when the truck had probably been left there. We do know that the truck was stuck, there’s evidence to suggest that the truck was stuck, and possibly that the gentleman was not able to get the vehicle free.”
She says there is no evidence to suggest foul play or suspicious activity in Boettger’s disappearance.
